Literacy Blog #10

According to the author, “climate change did indeed raise human and planetary welfare during the 20th century.” Personally, I believe that climate change is doing nothing for earth, in any positive way. Climate change affects extinction of animals. I think that alone is pretty horrible. I feel like the economy has gotten worse to be honest.
Supposedly, the climate change is supposed to,  lower energy costs and better agricultural yields. It seems like to me that the energy costs for my family has not went down. The article says that cold is the biggest killer, which is another positive for climate change.
I think this is a very important topic because it could highly affect our lives. Again I don’t see a change in economy except for a negative change, which means this statement, I feel, is incorrect.

Literacy Blog #9

I think that anything could be highly addictive. Food can be addictive, games, the internet, and of course, drugs. Just like drugs, basically any addiction can be very life threatening. Drugs can cause organ failure, which results in death.
In this situation, Oreos, are high in fat. In a certain part of this article, it states, "Our research supports the theory that high-fat/high-sugar foods stimulate the brain in the same way that drugs do," co-author Joseph Schroeder, an associate professor of neuroscience at Connecticut College in New London, Conn., said in a press release. "It may explain why some people can't resist these foods despite the fact that they know they are bad for them." People sometimes go to food to suppress emotions. Some people eat because they are bored, sad, excited, happy, or confused. Just like with any other food, oreos are the type of food that when you start eating it, you can't stop.

I think if I needed to take the pills to suppress the pain, or any other side effects, that I would take the pills. I think if I were in terrible pain and couldn’t eat or drink anything without vomiting, that I would take the pills. No one wants to be sick. As long as you didn’t tell me specifically what goes into the pill, I would take it.
The stool of a relative is processed in a lab. They take out food, and take out the bacteria and clean it. The cleaned “poop” is coated in gel capsules so that it doesn’t dissolve before it reaches the intestines. People might prefer it to fecal transplants because, it is expensive and requires procedures like colonoscopies or throat tubes.
The pill was designed to not dissolve until it reaches the intestines because if it did dissolve too early, it would give you really bad breathe. Your breathe would actually smell like someone else's poop! “Louie sees potential for the poop pills for other people with out-of-whack gut bacteria, such as hospitalized patients vulnerable to antibiotic-resistant germs.” These “poop” pills may sound nasty, but as you can see, they have very great potential. If you have ever had a really bad stomach virus, or any other type of stomach sickness, then you should understand. Some individuals can’t take anti-biotics, which makes this pill a GREAT alternative.

Literacy Blog #7

After reading this article, I believe that students should be able to write a good story, whether it be true or not. Some students are better at writing fictional stories then others, and some can write nonfiction better than others. Most of the time though, fictional can be more exciting and interesting. Reading about a bunch of facts can be boring, really depending on your topic. Don't get me wrong, some nonfiction can be exciting too.
Even though you may be good at fiction or nonfiction, during a writing test where your "story" is suppose to be nonfiction, try your best at remembering and writing down correct facts. When you submit that test, and the graders are reading your essay, they will be looking at legit factual information. If your question was, "What were the names of all presidents from least recent to recent , and what years were they in office?" You aren't going to name off President Barack Obama first!
Usually students may not remember dates of events, of course then just put down what you remember and try your best not to guess at anything. While writing your story, do an outline first if possible. The structure of an essay can also make or break your grade.
Okay, even if the "experts" say that the factual writing really doesn't matter, I feel like it does. Going through life and giving false information on every "test" or "quiz", in school or not, will not help you in the long run. Find out what is right or wrong, so that you can distribute the correct information to others.
